Hi All
Back in 1996, I took a year out and went to India. Back then I was able to live and travel off �100 per month easily. Here were some example prices:
Delhi Guesthouse 60rps (example: Ringo GuestHouse)
Dhal 8 rps
Thali 20 rps in Delhi
Thali 15 rps in Rajahstan
Beer 40-50 rps
Upcountry guest houses 20-30 rps
Train from Madras to Dehli 450 rps
My question is, as far as travelling goes, have prices gone up alot since then???
Any advise from folk who have more recent experience of India would be great... |

Hello, so you're heading back to India? Good luck 
I was first in India on a year out in 97 too and find myself 10 years later back there. As for prices, yes they have hiked up considerably especially in tourist areas. You still get cheap dal if you eat from a street side wallah but as you probalby know, the quality and hygeine is often lacking.
