Does anyone have any feedback on Berlitz? Are they a good company to work for? My partner and I have an interview for positions in San Luis, so any comments on the city of Berlitz would be appreciated.

A year and a half ago I was offered a job at a branch location in Mexico City. Their offer of employment was ridiculous. In other words penal servitude. In my opinion they offer an unprofessional wage predicated on an artificial table of conditions and advancement.

This is all I can offer. Any one else with more information?

In both the United States and Mexico, Berlitz pays poorly, overcharges it's students, and prohibits you from working for any other school. Bark up another tree, is my advice.

I agree - they overcharge. I had a bad experience using them to learn Spanish in San Francisco. When I innocently asked if the word "barrio" had a negative connotation, my Mexican teacher told me I thought that because I was a racist. They seem very inflexible.

I, too was offered a job in Bertlitz, Mexico City. It was a couple of years ago, but the salary was far too low. I think, between $60 -90 p.h. depending on your (perceived) level. Right now, the going rate in D.F. in private institutions is between $100-160 ph. Agreed that has to be adjusted for the provinces.

I had an interview with Berlitz in NJ about 5 yrs ago to teach ESL fulltime and was horrified at the salary: $24,000 per year. My experience with them hasnt been great either.

It's looking a bit bleak for Berlitz as far as the users of this forum are concerned!...as if they care. The same goes for Interlingua. If I knew the secret of those companies ability to charge high prices to their clients and low salaries to their staff, I would apply the same policy to my own company...or maybe not! I believe that in business you need to have the best staff to provide the best product, and the best staff cost money. As the adage goes - if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys - but Berlitz seem to defy that theory! Mad
