I'd like to teach in Cambodia or another Southeast Asian country for four months this winter -- Nov. - Feb. and I'm wondering how I can find work for just this time period. I know this is not the regular school year. It is, however, the time I have free.
I have a Bachelor's in Education (social sciences and English), a lifetime California Secondary Teaching Credential and a Masters in Library Science, with lots of experience as a teacher, with computer databases and as a university librarian. Do you know if I might find university students who would want help learning English and/or need help with library research and writing their papers? I do not have training in ESL at this time -- not sure if I would need this certificate.
A related question -- would this bring in a stable income? I'd like to cover my basic travel expenses. Any advice you can give me would be very much appreciated. |

Not sure about Cambodia. But you can get a teaching gig for 4 months in Thailand. I've worked there throughout that period in Bangkok.
You can contact MediaKids. It's a recruitment agency and they set you up with school and free accomodation. I found them while looking at ads at Dave's site. The money is not great, (about 900US), but it's fine if you want to pass the time away from the cold climate.
You can even save some money if you are not a hardcore partygoer.
