Cheers. Glad I found that out before a student asked me...

His head was bent to the side like he'd super-glued it to his shoulder. His warm-up was pretty weak stuff, ponderously slow arm circling followed by some totally freaky knee massaging. Anyway, you probably get the idea by now, so I won't try to describe his performance in the loose weights section.
With the best will in the world, i really couldn't see why anyone would let this one out of the attic let alone give him a job.

Happy to see that Alberta still breeds 24 carat arseholes.

Apologies to my Albertan friends)

The latest word on Nova is that the Japanese branch staff as of yesterday had not been paid their salaries that were due to be paid on July 27th. Their summer bonuses were also not paid.

Nova's stock is down to 69 yen, the lowest ever. Shocked

I'm no financial expert, but this seems serious.

Yeah, you're right. They should have put him down at birth.

I hope you have kids that are all 100% perfectly healthy. Because if they aren't, some cvnt will be talking about them like that.

What on Earth are you talking about you gibbering fool?? I was giving a relevant example of some one who would be considered clearly sub-optimal in their own country who has apparently arrived in Japan to try his luck - was it you??

He wasn't handicapped, just unfortunate and your hair-trigger reflex on the issue suggests that you are in a similar position to that poor chap. Good luck Markle, sounds like you'll need it. Rolling Eyes

I'm sure he does Laughing

These smart-alec posters like Markle should get a feel for the impression their unpleasant remarks have.
So, Markle and Co. find a brick wall, face it and step back about 15 paces, then run at it full tilt face first. Then simply check the impression you made Wink

I don't think we need to concern ourselves with little marky-boy.

There was nothing relevant about your comments. This is not Sparta, and one's success in the business world has nothing to do with how many chin-ups he can do or his max bench press.

I'm reading a thread here that is really making me wonder if I'll really have a job when I get to Japan in September. I'm becoming more and more worried.

I'd seriously reconsider your plans.

Well even some survived the Hindenburg. It hasn't happened yet so you never know. Nova is like a bloody co-ckroach so it wouldn't surprise me if they pulled through somehow.
Definitely still come, as they say "you never know your luck in the big city".

Agreed.
There's nothing stated in the quote below to suggest that 605 judged that so-called sub-optimal person based on anything other than his appearance and performance at the gym.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that was a made-up story anyway. Wink

605,
Why don't you post a video of one of your workouts so we can all see what a magnificent human specimen you really are?

Yeah, same here. After all, plenty of people head to Japan without a job already lined up. So even if NOVA is in the ground by the time I get there, I figure I'm no worse off than those people. And probably better off since I've already got a visa (and saved some money on the plane ticket, too). Just need to make sure I'll have more than the 120,000 yen that NOVA recommends you bring.

Except that you will be competing with 4000 experienced just-redundant-from-NOVA who have more contacts and (probably) better Japanese than you do.

By all means come over, but don't underestimate the chaos that will ensue if the cokcroach goes belly-up. Parachuting onto the Titanic after it has collided with the Iceberg is brave; declaring that you'll be fine many people choose to swim in the Atlantic just plain stupid.

But balls of steel have always helped in surviving Japan.

For those who'd like to see a more in depth discussion on Nova by those already in Japan:
