I might be teaching in Fujairah. Any information about housing, schools for children and lifestyle there?

Housing will depend on your family status, most singles in the HCT system are housed in flats. Some families are as well, especially in crowded Abu Dhabi. The villas are spacious and generally well maintained. They are more expensive as you have to pay for electricity and water (especially if you want a garden).

Lifestyle in Fujairah is quiet and laidback. It's a small town with very little traffic, not much shopping selection and limited "diversions" (one cinema, no real parks). However, there are compensations with lots of opportunities for water activities, 4WDing, and beautiful scenery. If necessary, Dubai is only 2 hours away for more intensive shopping fixes and elaborate entertainment options.

Be aware that in Fujairah, as in many small towns world wide - your social network will be made up of many people you work with. Everyone will have a good idea of what you do and when you do it (and they'll be happy to voice their opinions freely to you). But that's small town life.

There is really only one adequate school that Western expats send their kids to - Fujairah Private Academy. There have been conflicting opinions as to how well they serve their students in the higher grades especially.

Good summary from helen1. You may also want to do a search. There has been discussion of life in Fujairah here on the board in the last few months.
