Wondered how many of you have read this post? I know it is four years old but many of the comments made by the poster seem, to me, to be frankly ludicrous. E.g. Spanish shop assistants working a 12-hour day.
Have a look. Let's hear what you think. |

I have to say, it's still pretty accurate (apart from the shop workers working a 10 hour day which is wrong)
Perhaps a better question might be "What information would you add?" (2007 average hourly wages, rent for a room in the centre, price of a beer etc) ? |

You're more familiar with Madrid than I am but I would certainly question the assertion that ''service in shops and restaurants'' is terrible. I've known this country since 1981 and have never been aware of bad service in shops..now and again long queues do form in supermarkets, I agree.
As for ''terrible service'' in restaurants, I nearly choked on my chorizo. If there's an industry which really does work here, it's the catering industry.
The OPs comments about drug and alcohol consumption are way off the mark. As I'm sure you are aware Spain's drug problem is one the worst in Europe and look at the 'botellon''.
Finally, he asserts that the pay in ''academias'' is decent! It probably is if annual holidays, new clothes etc. don't interest you.
By the way, I don't share his apparently low opinion of the typical student here.
