| Smoog, are you serious? You're a NET, right? 11 hours a week? I take it this is an unusual arrangement. |
yep, a NET. 11 is on the low side from what I understand (though it's going to be tough for me, since my last NET position had me teaching 8 hours /week!). However, the contract does state that max contact hours /week are 14.
Schools'll always try to force more onto you of course. Unless you're lucky, which I appear to be. |

| The flaw in your calculations is that there is absolutely no need to spend anywhere near HK$12,000 for housing in Hong Kong. You can, of course, but there's certainly no need to. |
Thanks for the comment.
I was calculating prices for something comparable to my former flat, sans roommates. |
I should have posted an update to this thread a few months ago, especially since I have seen another thread regarding the differences between HK and Taiwan...and also since we use these forums to help us to make decisions regarding (sometimes expensive) changes in/of host nations:
dandan was quite correct in her/his post: I was able to find a very nice 2 bedroom pad, (with clubhouse, swimming pool, weight room, tennis court, sauna, etc.) directly on an MTR station for less than HK$9000.
First and last to the landlord plus 1/2 months rent "commission" to the realtor were required.
good luck. |
