Hi
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm from the UK and have been teaching English for a large company in Hong Kong for over seven years. My girlfriend would like to join me here in Hong Kong. She's also from the UK, and is currently teaching English in Spain. She's got the CELTA, CELTYL, and DELTA but she doesn't have a first degree. She is also hoping to start a distance learning MA in Applied Linguistics from a UK university very soon.
So, I'm interested to know about her job prospects in Hong Kong taking into account the fact that she has no first degree. Is a first degree a company or an immigration requirement? All I know is that she can't work at my place without a first degree. I'd also like to know if the situation would be different if we were married and she had a dependency visa (I'm now a permanent resident in HK). We are planning to get married anyway, but perhaps it would be a good idea to bring the date forward.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers! |
