I know a lot of people say this, but I have never done it. I've run into too many students who were scammed by unreliable teachers (theft really) - and wanted to avoid those concerns on the part of my students.
But . . . I've never really minded the occasional missed class. Usually you'll quickly know if a student is going to be unreliable or not - and if it is a new student sometimes the chemistry just isn't right and YOU may want to cancel the classes.
Just my opinion on the issue though - I know a lot of people do ask for up-front payments. |

I guess it may depend on what country you are in and what your job is. I guess my experience was that I was working at a university and the students could have found me if they wanted to. |

So I guess you are not as thick as your original question suggests.
If you can't work out the difference betwen IS and ARE then just give up.
I know I sound rude but some people in this world are destined not to try certain things. |
