Must be why I am poor at learning Japanese, because I am not Japanese!
Student (S) I don't like x.
Teacher (T) Oh, when did you try/eat/do x?
S I have never tried/eaten/done x!
T So how would you know if you like x or not?! You have no experience of it.
S I just know I don't like it!
T ???????Okay, and moving on.... |

| I'd probably have more of these anecdotes if I actually listened to students. |

| The other day I was teaching weather collocations such as "heavy rain" or "light fog." I asked the students if they knew any (they were all pretty low level) and one guys said "Fvcking hot." I wasn't sure that I heard what I heard, so he repeated "Fvcking hot, fvking cold, fvcking humid." He was right, I guess... |

This made my day today...
I had the students ask each other favors, out of Interchange 3- so Mr. T asked Mr. I., could you drive me to the airport after the lesson? whereupon Mr. I., without missing a beat replied, I'm sorry, I have to drink. |
