Honest, JustMe, your MIL sounds like a nightmare. My wife (Turkish) was outraged at your tale of how she takes things from your flat and gives them away. Neither of our Mums would dare do such a thing. Tell her off!

That's good to know, actually, that your MIL isn't this way. I sometimes get the feeling they all were... Even though I'm jealous it's also somehow encouraging.

Telling her off is useless. Actually, it often makes the problem worse, as in, it makes her do the thing you told her off for even more. Though I guess she hasn't kissed the baby loudly in his ear after I bawled her out for that one, in front of the husbands, even. But given her history, the baby will not be left alone with her till he's old enough to run away, defend himself, and report any wrongdoing.

In the end, though, I hold all the chips because I control her contact with my son. Harder for me, as I lose what's traditionally a free babysitter, but too bad for her for being so stupid not to have worked this out!

I'm sorry...that was flippant of me. For sure you got a problem. I'm just so relieved that there isnt really any friction or eccentricity with in laws, but I didnt mean to sound smug. Sorry again and hope everything works out OK.

I didn't take it as smug-- I really am glad for you because there's nothing worse than being forced to hang out with someone antagonistic, dreading all week that you'll have to see that person, wondering what they'll harass you for each time, and having to let them hold your child.

I'm still considering a Turkey exit strategy, but when I really think about it, a lot of my wanting to leave is down to her, and wanting to put as many miles between us as possible!

Poor dear. Any time you want relief, my flat is open to you and your refugee status. She'll never find you in Osmanbey.

Very Happy I don't know, she's pretty wily...

You know, I keep hijacking threads with my MIL. I apologise to all. She's like bellybutton lint-- once it comes up I just can't shut up about it.

So...did Husnu find his phone?

I'm not sure if it was lost in the first place. Just out of interest justme- does chidbirth have an effect on bellybutton fluff and is Ender too young to have any? Which brings me on to my next question. At what age does belly button fluff appear?

Uh oh, getting me started, eh? You have many questions about bellybutton fluff, and I have answers!

While my bellybutton didn't pop out during pregnancy, it got noticeably flatter, leaving less room for fluff. No change in color and texture.

Babies, as it turns out, gather fluff in all sorts of places. Ender's resides mainly in his neck creases and between his fingers, but, like bellybutton fluff, it's always blue. There is indeed some stuff in his bellybutton-- kind of brownish, but I'm not entirely sure what it is. Probably some residual goo left over from when the terrifying umbilicus fell off. Even if he weren't too squirmy for me to pick at the goo and explore it further, I probably wouldn't anyway, and am just hoping it goes away of it's own accord.

But don't worry-- as soon as he gets some proper bellybutton fluff, I'll be sure and let you know!

A while back we had a thread about belly button fluff. Justme had a fascination about the stuff. We had links to really informative sites and everything. I don't think it was on the telly though.
