I didn't say you would be asked for it. What I said was I had thought I would be asked for it. |

Never never asked for an FEC to exit..., whether I left via Bejing, Shenzhen, or Xiamen to Thailand. |

Of course -- it's in your passport anyway.

Once your passport is submitted to the PSB for the resident permit, the Z visa is automatically cancelled. |

I was working on an F visa ( no comments please...) and my company now gave me an RP in my passport and an FEC.
My F visa, good till Jan 2008 was marked "Canceled" on it.
My RP is multiple entires so no need for anything else.
For those that ask - a legitimate school / company can get your L / F visa turned into an RP - at least in this provance... |

| gnorance of the law comes in all shapes and sizes, from the "Gosh, I didn't know that!" to the "close my eyes and pretend I don't see it" to the "Everybody does it, who cares?" That doesn't change the fact that what you're doing (or thinking about) is illegal, that your prospective employers are willing to break the law, or that you will be at their mercy if and when something goes wrong. If you're comfortable in that situation, then fine. |
The US Government certainly was when they bombed the shit out of Iraq but I guess thats pretty minor when compared to working 'illegally'. |

The FAO at my uni requires the FTs to turn in all of their documents (except their passports) before they leave. What's THAT about? |

Apparently, the education ministries/bureaus in some provinces do require having them returned when a FT is finished with his/her contract. |

The FEC does say quite specifically that it must be returned before leaving (I have a couple now). But then it also says we should use this as our identification in China. No one has yet pass the message along.
What other documents? |

Yes read my posting about the shakedown, the F visa guy was deported out within 2 days.
Some sort of shakedown is happening with a possibility of more to come. I am not sure if this will become a national policy yet but...
I wouldn't be surprised.. |

It looks like i'll be dismissed from my contract tomorrow (about 3 months into a one year contract) for medical reasons.Basically according to the doctor I can teach part-time but they have hired 2 other teachers in my absence. Will i lose my r.pf? how would the one months notice work, in terms of my accommodation considering there is no work for me to do? surely they can't just kick me out. what are my options please?
p.s. there is also a 10,000rmb penalty for breaking the contract early, who should pay if anyone?
many thanks |
