| Since i'm relatively new to warsaw and have been lucky enough to keep myself busy with work during the summer i haven't had the chance to explore warsaw. I'm also sick and tired or making bloody sandwiches every morning. Where are the cheap eateries in Warsaw? I work mostly in company in the centre but have only found a few hidey holes. There must be a few more.. |

| I've seen one in praga. I'm based on Marszalkowska in the south centre of town, other then finding a pub that does lunch for 12zl near Constitution square and probably the best kebab shop in Warsaw just around the corner, I can't find much else. |

There's one on Nowy Swiat. It's the one I went to the very first night I ever spent EVER in Poland. It's down the Jerozolomiskiego end of NS. |

Unfortunately it recently closed and became a trendy and expensive wine bar called 'Bodega'. 
There's one further up on the west side of Nowy Świat, closer to the junction with Świętokrzyszka (called 'Familijny'), another just before the University gates on the east side, and a very good one (redecorated even) on Lindleya, just by Plac Starynkiewicza. Teachers from our school often eat there.
On Marszalkowska there are two, 'Złota Kura' on the west side, just north of Plac Konstitucji, and 'Prasowy' (very good) on the east side, right down the southern end. There's also one at the top of Andersa, opposite the immigration office. Near 'Złota Kura' is a private place, looks like a Chinese restaurant but isn't, & does good meals for 10zl.
The real bargain for cheap and good food is the catering college on Pożnańska, just south of the junction with Hoża. They run a 'training restaurant' where the trainee cooks are graded on the food (meaning they really they try to do it well). It's open lunchtimes only and does a set meal, somewhat above Bar Mleczny standard. Cheap, and even cheaper if you buy a book of vouchers in advance. |

There are two well-known ones in Praga, one on the corner of Targowa and Ząbkowska (not so good - nasty surprises in the food and sleeping tramps at the tables) and one just off Solidarności, by St Florian's Basilica and sort of opposite the zoo. That one has a particularly good reputation. |

What's the obsession with milk bars?The food they serve is dreadful.If you're looking for cheap grub,go to the Chinkies near Centralna and have the 'eating in a tin shack experience'.
Don't be tight...go to a proper restaurant. |

Some of us just like greasy spoon food Biff.
Hotel, bar and restaurant food becomes a little jaded on my palate after a while and I yearn for a plate of liver and onions swimming in fat or tripe sausage and mustard.
Of course being a tightwad has something to do with it as well. Not the place to take your parents or girlfriend ..unless you want rid of her..or them |

Well, there's always the Green Way cafes, if you don't mind eating Veggie food. It's about 10zl for a meal.
They have branches around the city, including Szpitalna (nr Chmielna, the main drag between Centrum and Nowy Swiat), Swietokrzyska and Plac Bankowy.
Many of the big office blocks, such as the one in Domaniewska near Galeria Mokotow, have cheap and reasonable canteens, so if you end up teaching somewhere out of the centre, check out what canteens are around there.
There are tons of pierogarnia, etc, serving basic fare and some are very good, such as the one in Bednarska (near Plac Zamkowy).
Also, you can go to the food courts in the malls, that is if you don't find such places too depressing! |

Vega (close to Kino Femina) is by far the best veggie restaurant in Warsaw. It's cheaper than Greenway too.
Bulgaria Magica at Marszalkowska 3/5 has come good and reasonably priced food (16zl mousaka is especially good).
Namaste (Nowogrodzka 15) is the best ethnic food in Poland and 12zl to 17zl for a curry with rice or just 6zl for a couple of veggie samosas.
Wook (directly underneath the Marriott) has reasonable food and it's 6zl for a main course and 4zl for a starter. OK the portions are not big but 2 starters and 2 mains is more than enough.
Subway is pretty decent too. A foot-long sandwich loaded with meat and veg for 15zl is good for two meals.
Last one for now, Asia Tasty at the back end of Hala Mirowska (the back of the second building) is one of the few places in Warsaw where white people are a minority. Loads of the Vietnamese people who live in the area eat there and when you try the food (main courses are 10zl and plenty on the plate), you see why. |

Close to the centre of town is a great place to eat and the food is always tasty and great. Won't give the address away because its my babcia's place:) And its free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's a cheap place to eat in warsaw  |
