Greetings all. Has anyone heard of this program?

http://www.mastersinpoland.com/

"For over 30 years Framingham State College's C. Louis Cedrone International Education Center has offered accredited pedagogy programs all over the world. This two-year accelerated program allows educators to work a regular teaching schedule during the school year by attending intensive two-week courses twice a year during semester breaks. Over the course of the two-year program, participants will have over 320 hours of instructional time, the same as with a typical M.Ed. done at a regular college.

"In addition, we offer to fully subsidize this program for its participants while offering excellent money making opportunities, legal working and living status in Poland and assist in any needs the program participant may have."

I would be interested in such an opportunity. About myself: I am Canadian, B.Ed degree (Secondary, English major French minor); I have a permanent (lifetime) certificate to teach in my province; I have some ESL experience, both here and abroad including one year in South Korea.

I am 45 now and I think it's time to get a Master's degree. I never thought of living in Poland until I read about this program; the more I thought about it, and the more I read threads on this "Poland" section of the board, the more attractive Poland sounds. Of course I realize it's not a place to get rich, but it sounds like it has many other charms. I have a gift for learning languages as well so I would certainly be signing up for language courses and wrestling with the notorious Polish grammar.

What other niches might there be in Poland for someone with my profile?

I'm in the program right now. Classes start next Monday so it may be a bit late but come January you may want to apply. I noticed that you are Canadian. How do you feel about the commuter option? Visas are a possibility- I think (am not sure) that Canadians can get work visas in France.

They have them all over the world. Poland is just one of them.

Framingham also has two M.A. programs available in Korea.

One for the MA in International Education and another for a M.A. in TESL.

The TESL one is having an orientation this September, and courses will begin in February for the two year program.

The first TESL M.A. in Korea, although Framingham has been offering them in other countries for awhile now.

Jagiellonian University also offers a MA TESOL. You might be better off getting a degree from a European University if you want to stay in Europe.

Be forewarned- at 34 I was the oldest student in my program.

Hello - yeah, I have heard of them - I am enrolled in the program, and I also work for them.

Regarding the other sites around the world, there are plenty to choose from - the problem is getting in. Most of the other programs are run by individual schools as staff development, or as a nice bennie. So they aren't always keen to have an outsider join them. We get this question all the time, and I encourage people to go ahead and apply to the other programs, and please let me know if you get in. So far, nobody that I know of has. Maybe Tiger Beer knows of some. As far as I know, this is the only program that is open to teachers from various schools.

Unfortunately, we no longer offer work positions. It was just too much hassle, and the market right now isn't helping. We do still have a few openings in our commuter program in January, and we get lots of teachers from S. Korea.

Good luck with the learning the language bit! Polish really is a hard one!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows about the MA TESOL offered by the Jagiellonian University. I'm planning to do a master's next year and I'm considering them. If anyone knows about this course then I would greatly appreciate any information who could give me.

Thanks

It's not really an M.A., it's an M.Ed., i.e. Masters in Education. Which is rather different.

People promoting their own program, such as the gentleman/lady from Korea, should pay attention to these details. After all, they should know what they are selling, right?
