I don't know more than five words in Chinese yet, but I really need a pair of glasses. There is an optometrist a few doors down from me and I'm thinking of just going in and winging it. Does anyone have any advise? What might we expect glasses to cost in Taiwan?

thanks!

If you dont have a prescription, they will do a quick test of the eyes, frames cost the most, so basic pair around the 3,000 mark, that is what i paid for mine, with discount.
so like anywhere its the frames and type you want which costs.

If your lucky they will speak english, if not take a friend:) or just point

HOw much = DOOR SOW (as in pig), say those words as in english and they will understand you are asking a price.

Just be careful if you have any kind of prescription that requires special lenses. Some shops desperate to make a sale will use the closest mass-produced lens they have in stock, instead of ordering your exact needs, even if the eye test says differently.
