Has anyone taken the Masters in TEOSL distance learning course from U. Birmingham? Is it worth the expense and time? I see a lot of adverts for it over here in Japan. Any info would be appreciated.

I heard that you do not get a tutor but your assignments are marked by anon postgraduate students.

I had two excellent tutors and a highly professional dissertation supervisor. There was a brief period in 2006 when the regular markers went on strike and some postgrads did some marking. Big uproar. It only happened once.

The actions of the postgrads probably contributed to the employers confidence in keeping the wages down at the time.
