| I am going to reject the offer of employment. I have been in contact with them and they still maintain that a work visa is not necessary to work for a few months (I said I would only want a three month contract). And they did not email me a contract, but said there would be contract when I arrive. Other suspicious qualities about the school is that in their first email they said it would be a volunteer position with only a "basic salary." Also, the ad said that they would provide assistance in getting a work visa, which is contrary to they later said in email and over the phone. |
The fact that you had asked for a three-month contract may explain why they said a work visa was not required. To them, it just wouldn't worth the hassle of having to go through all the red tapes to get you a work visa, and having you working for only three months. Also, many PSB's require a year-long contract before they would issue a F visa and the documents needed for a Z visa.
Chances are quite good that they wanted you to work with a F visa which many employers, both language training centres and public schools like colleges, are telling prospective job candidates to get if they will be working for no longer than six months.

| I got an email from a university in changchun for a possible job offer, and what a difference. A contract was included in the email right away, without even the final job offer. I hope to get this job in Changchun. |
If the school is Changchun Normal University, AKA Changchun Teacher(s) College, you may want to read my post regarding them, or PM me for more details. Keep in mind that Changchun's winter can be unbearable if you are not accustomed to temepratures below -10 Celsius. |

Ah, the rest of the story. Big difference. Concur with TW. In this case, forget the z-visa. If I was the school, and you wanted to work for three months, I would honestly tell you work on the tourist visa. No point to the z. Yangshuo has the rep of many laowai looking to travel, maybe working for a couple months, to them you fit the category. |

Hi there-
I worked with Jonathan at another school before he opened Five Continents Together. I can say without any reservations that he is a fine man. I always found him to be generous, patient and honest. I hope this is a little reassuring to anyone interested in working for this school. |
