Any information or experience at CITY University of Washington (Bellingham, Seattle, etc.,) in Slovakia? (Thanks, Mark, for the correction)

The official name is City University. If you include the entire title with the "University of Seattle", no one will know what you are talking about.

I have never taught there and never personally met anyone who has taught there, but overall I'd say their reputation both as a college and as a reputable employer is decent. I heard once a few years ago that the pay wasn't great, but frankly that's what you hear about many schools in Slovakia. I wouldn't put too much worth into that. If you have a potential job opportunity there, I'd definitely look into it.

Thanks, John. I'm glad you liked the website www.fgslovakia.com Any suggestions on getting linked in better, as you said, to google or yahoo would be appreciated Smile

For sure, any place, including the Technical university, finds it easier to hire you if you are an EU citizen. But that doesn't mean that they won't help you if you are qualified and interested in working for them. I had worked already a few years in Slovakia and had learned the renewal process for the visa pretty well. Once I was interested in the Technical University, and they were interested in me, the process was straight forward. It's not that simple for newbies, I know.

My recommendation is if you are starting in Slovakia with little to no experience, go with a private language school the first year. The pay is better and you work a little more closely with your students (and learn quite a lot).
