Surely even just the briefest of looks on a currency converter will tell you that it is not. 5million has got to be about the worst TEFL job in the whole country. |

Qualified English Teachers For Surabaya And Sidoarjo, Cities In Exotic East Java, Indonesia
Posted By: EF English First <[email protected]>
Date: Friday, 31 August 2007, at 3:42 a.m.
Surabaya is ideally located for visits to Bali and the historic and cultural attractions of Java, and also to the other islands of the Indonesian archipelago. It is Indonesia's second city, with a friendly, tolerant and ethnically diverse population.
Sidoarjo is a growing administrative and commercial city, about 25 kilometers south Indonesia’s second city, Surabaya. Sidoarjo is well known as a centre for seafood production , but in recent years its proximity to Surabaya has led a growth in light industry and commerce. It is also home to a number of universities and has a sizeable student population. |
Yes! Come and work in Sidoarjo! Don't worry about the ever-expanding sea of boiling mud...

ESL Teacher Needed in Bandung, Indonesia
Posted By: Tutor Time - Bandung <[email protected]>
Date: Tuesday, 4 September 2007, at 10:47 a.m.
Greetings. Tutor Time International Pre-school and Kindergarten Bandung – Indonesia is looking for an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. In connection with this, the following will be the benefits, to wit:
The school will take care of the working visa
The school will provide the runway ticket only for the processing and renewal of the working visa
The school will provide health allowance
The school is willing to negotiate for a reasonable compensation/salary
In accordance with the aforementioned statements above, the school is not liable for the following:
Housing allowance/Accommodation (The school is willing to help find a house but not pay for it.)
Transportation Allowance
Health Insurance
Other pertinent matters regarding to work load and work schedule will be discussed during the interview. If there are any queries, please contact yours truly via phone, mail or internet. |
While this doesn't sound much more terrible that most low-level positions (ok, it's pretty terrible - no return flight, no housing, no health insurance but a health allowance ), the style and tone of the ad scream "I am the pedantic, arrogant yet fundamentally wrong-headed boss of your worst nightmares." Shudder.
While I'm pretty pleased with these submissions, I'm looking forward to being outdone. Share the details of the Worst Job In The Whole Country! |

Three years ago EF Padang were offering new teachers 5Mill after tax plus free shared housing.
It was pretty minimal three years ago, but since then there has been an awful lot of inflation in Indonesia. |

I guess you won't be applying then.
I noticed that one of the schools mentioned above does not provide health insurance...ouch!
A few nights in a hospital - complete with antibiotic drips - can run you 5juta+
That's a monthly salary for some of these organisations. |

Crikey!! I was, as an unqualified illegal teacher, paid 5 million/month, a private house, meals at the office, and a motorbike for 'casually' teaching in a small school in a provincial town (Tebing Tinggi, Sumatera) back in 2001...and that was scraping by back then...look before you leap! |

Hmm ezekiel, i think I might know you. Did you used to hang out at Gecko's on Jl SM Raja in Medan? I remember the guy going to tebing tinggi to teach english.
Anyway just to stay on the topic, 5 juta is not enough and Padang is pretty boring |

I'm coming in a bit late here I know, but I see Real English in Yogya was listed as only paying Rp4 million.
They always paid better than EF Yogya, so it would be interesting to know if this is still the case. |
