I'm currently planning on coming to Beijing in December after getting my CELTA in Prague. I have no teaching experience otherwise and I do have a degree (BS, if it matters). I've got the requisite blond hair (curly too!) and blue eyes requirement down.

What are the prospects for someone like me? Should I look elsewhere in China or go to Taiwan instead?

Are you tall? Somewhat decent / attractive looking? It's a pretty competitive market here but every bit helps. A BS and CELTA should help cement the deal.

Most language mills hire year round and universities might need teachers for the Spring semester (starting end of Feb). I'd go back and read these threads and any other newbie thread about coming to China. I think you'll find your answer.
