Wow, thanks for the tip, Melee. What hours are they shown? I don't have cable yet, so the images on my TV are rather iffy, but I would enjoy seeing L&O this Sunday anyway. If they show episodes I've already seen (probably more than once), it won't matter so much if the video part of the broadcast is not up to snuff or if I have trouble figuring out the dubbed dialogue.

...5% or so. he's Latino (grew up in Mexico City), but he's very Pro-Indian reform issues...not that that is bad, but it won't get him in the Big House.

this website has all the recent polls, you can choose whichever one you want. i use Gallup.

Hey Melee, I didn't know you had twins! Mine live a few km north of Matamoros, and we practically stop traffic in the mercado when we nine gueros walk around ("Esos nios son albinos, si?").

Politics. Any Republican candidate who promised to bring the troops home on his inaguaration day wouldn't get nominated; the right wingers in the GOP would crucify him like they murdered John Kerry (traitor, coward, etc.).

I doubt that Obama is ready for prime time. Funny, though - I can't think of a candidate who's as pro-immigration of Mexicanos, as George W. Bush is! However, since only citizens can vote (and lots of Hispanic citizens vote Republican, such as Cubanos), I don't think it's a position that wins many votes, to be pro-mojado. (Can I say that? I bought a book in Morelia, "La Guia para Los Mojados")

Do Mexicans in the interior follow US elections? The Thais don't.

...im not sure...there's a big debate going on about what would happen with this. what many people don't know in the US, is there is a VERY big underground REP right org, organized by internet-forums. sort of like Moveon.org, but 20 X bigger. it's very secretive, and you saw what happened in Ohio to Kerry, this was all done by forums and in churches.

...so, right now they're saying, bring 70% of the troops home, leave 30 % on the Iraq-Iran borders...and the big thing that will win the Rep nomination, put those 100,000 troops on the Mexican border. and maybe, 20,000 on the Canadian border. there, they can process visas, catch wetbacks, etc. and, they are talking about putting in "fast-visa" center where the illegals can go to register and apply for fast visas.

Guliani doesn't talk about this, but i think he's leaning in that direction.

Rep. Senators are dropping like flies from pro-Iraq views. don't forget, Inaugaration Day is 15 months away, and Iraq will surely be worse by then with the same daily car bomb reports.

I imagine the people at the top rungs of industry and government do. They likely have their lobbyists up in DC like everyone else.

Hey, now that Gore's got a Nobel, do we think the dynamics might change? He's being begged to run...

Gore/Clinton, go, go, go

Here's a fun link to get caught up on all of the candidates while being entertained with sarcastic witticisms, like only the makers of the Daily Show can do:

Is it wrong that they're one of my primary news sources?

I think you learn more about what's really happening in the world from the Daily Show than from all the news broadcast by the networks and CNN combined!
