I am thinking about heading over to France to check the job situation out first-hand. Flights to Paris and Nice are the same price from Montreal, so I'm wondering what my best bet would be, with regards to both jobs and expenses?
Thanks! |

Work: Paris bigger, more jobs.
Weather: Nice nice, Paris not so nice. |

Yeah, some common sense points in the previous post. Differences obviously relate to:
- breadth of professional opportunities
- cost of living
- rent
- volume of cultural facilities (museums, art galleries, etc.)
- mentality of the local people (Parisians are a unique breed)
- ultimately YOU. What type of person are you, and where do you think you would be happier? In a smaller, more laid back provincial city near the sea, or an inland national capital? That's really the crux. Forget the airfare. The real issue is what charcater do you have and what do you want to achieve by being in France.
Good luck! |

I would definitely say: Paris.
Reason is TESOL France is based there, and they have so many events for English teachers.
Their Annual Colloquium, So to Speak, Developing Communication Skills is coming up in Paris, on November 30th and December 1st.
Venue: Tlcom Paris, 46 rue Barrault, 75013 Paris
* 26 international workshops and seminars on teaching English
* Extensive opportunities to meet publishers
* Plenty of opportunities to meet other teachers
* A conference package filled with useful material
* A chance to win ESL prizes
They'll also have a job board and I just found out that they invited some people who help teachers get work in Paris.
Check out the website: www.tesol-france.org
So, go for Paris. I only know of two language schools Nice and there are a million in Paris. |

bsjess,
rather than hijack this thread to advertise your function, would you mind starting a new one? and if you could include the fee for attending, that would be swell. thanks. |
