Has anyone out there used this agency to find a job in China? If so, was the result worthwhile? |

Use the search function. There have been a couple of similar posts in the semi-recent past. |

I've never used their services but I know a couple of teachers who did and they seem to be satisfied with their work arrangements.
All the best to ya! |

Hey, Bianca... Long time no see. So you made it to China? Without the help of "he who has disappeared"? Hope things are working out for you.
Perhaps for the OP you could give some details of what Angelina's did (or didn't?) do for you. Would you go through them again? |

Yes I did make it here safe and sound, that you all for asking. I've been keeping myself busy working (well not so much of that sometimes), shopping (more so than working at times) and taking in the "Chinese" experience.
For the OP: I applied for my current position via Angelina's. They passed it on to the school and made sure that the communications went well. The school contacted me when Angelina's said they would. Any contact issues I had the rep took to the school and had carified for me. I really don't have any complaints which is pretty good considering that most things posts or comments on this forum are negative and that I'm a first-timer in China.
But keep in mind that Angelina's is probably like any other job service where you are the one who has to do the research to make sure that you are choosing a reputable and "honest" school. I had several options lined up with them and it was up to me to do my homework on each school, even though they don't give you the name of the school immediately.
If Angelina's had something of interest to me then I would have no qualms about using their services again.
Feel free to contact me via PM if you have any specific questions and I'll try and recall as much as I can to help you out. But like you'll see just about everywhere around here- it's really up to you to make sure that you are choosing a good school. Just because I had a positive experience with Angelina's doesn't mean that there aren't others who have had negative ones. In fact I'm positive that somewhere out there there are plenty of other teachers who had negative expierences.

When I was still considering jobs in China I contacted them several times. Only once did I get a reply and then after that I never received any follow up to my inquires.
I chalked it up to maybe they were so busy they just forgot about me...
Then once I got here I realized it was just typical Chinese customer service - or should I say the absence of it... |

I contacted them a few years ago about a job in Guangzhou, they sent me an email informing me about how the position I wanted was taken. However they offered me another position in Henan province. Although they are an agency, they seem to deal with only public schools and I believe you deal with them initially before dealing with the school. Overall I would use Angelina's before using an agency like say New Times. |

My belated thanks to everyone who answered my question. I'm not a China resident, my usual stamping ground is the Russia/CIS forum where the paucity of posts reflects the much smaller number of resident expat teachers, and I hadn't expected such a swift and comparatively large response. I've now shelved ideas of moving to China, at least for the time being but, as the reviews of Angelina's ESL cafe were more positive than negative, I'll probably use that agency if and when I think seriously of moving over the border. |
