I've heard that the Australian (and maybe NZ?) embassy is helping out people that have been screwed by Nova. What form is this help taking? Are they actually fronting people air fare?
And what other countries are helping their people out? |

The Australian government has appealed to Qantas airlines to provide discounted airfare to put-out Australian NOVA teachers. That's as much as I know about the Australian end of things. |

I've heard a lot of countries embassy web sites have information posted to help troubled NOVA employees. I don't have the embassy web site addresses, but I imagine they shouldn't be too hard to find with the help of a search engine. |

Well, it certainly doesn't look like the U.S. embassy is doing much beyond saying "If you want to leave, have your family wire you money". And a few links for folks that wanna stay. Anyhow, here is the U.S. embassy's page concerning info for U.S. Nova teachers:

Yeah. You'd think some of the unused barracks at one or more of the military bases could be used as temporary housing for some American homeless teachers.
Just a thought. |

the British embassy did something to get some cheaper flight to to the UK from Japan for a limited period of time.
The New Zealand embassy has been helping its citizens, but I am not sure how exactly. |

Oh, come on now... Uncle Sam can be helpful sometimes... when it doesn't really cost anything, I mean. |

I saw an add on Facebook saying that China will pay for moving costs and a plane ticket if you are able, and qualify for a year of teaching in China... |

I heard that the British Embassy is showing old episodes of Only Fools and Horses with I.V. drips of HP sauce to keep them happy if their future looks bleak. |

According to , http://www.j2fi.net/2007/10/26/its-official-nova-shuts-down/ the Canadian embassy seems to be saying that they will help people get in contact with people in Canada (probably by giving them the international prefix for the telephone number). So really a whole lot of nothing.
About as surprising as the idea that it may be colder in the north of Canada than the south of Japan this winter. |

Actually, I am very curious to know what people from different countries think their various embassies' responsibilities should be towards former Nova teachers. |
