Sooo it appears I have been dooped. I paid nearly $700 for an online TEFL course, and it seems as though it's going to be put to use as a paperweight. I suppose it's my own fault, should have realized getting a TEFL over the internet would have this outcome.

Has anyone else heard of them? Has anyone else used their course? Anyone had a friend/relative take the course? Am I stuck with doing one of their stupid "paid placement" positions?

The consistent problem with online or correspondence courses like this is the lack of a practical teaching component with feedback. Employing schools of every stripe are generally aware of this failing. One really needs to bridge such a course with at least some volunteering or an internship with structured feedback to be of value.

i-to-i offers some form of job placement advice or volunteering opportunities, do they not? Perhaps you could check with them for listings in Latin America as you're seeking.
