Was watching CNN and it was mentioned that through posts on this forum, the latest pervert was identified. This Canadian had a pseudonym here, but Interpol managed to link this to his real name.

I wonder if Dave's has deleted/hidden his posts. I'm morbidly curious to read them. I'm not surprised though that this guy was posting on here, though. Our job is the ultimate on-the-run one for criminals. No doubt, now that I've said that, some jerk will start a flame war with me or try to correct my grammar. I'm just letting you know in advance that if that's your intent, I'm not responding!

Did you try the Korea forums? That's where his stuff was. You have to register separately to access the Korea pages.
You should also have a look at the "Alert Thailand" thread in the General Discussion forum.

morbid curiosity got the better of me (it'll be the death of me, I know!) and I trolled through the Korean forums searching for posts by, "Peter Jackson" (that scumbag's nom-de-plume) and couldn't find any.
Even within a thread which another poster had linked in their discussion about him which, according to that poster, had several posts made by 'Pater Jackson'.
Nor is there a 'Peter Jackson' in the members list.
So t'would seem that Dave went through and deated all this guy's post (and username).

I can't say I blame Dave for doing this. I know I certainly wouldn't want my website (not that I have one) or reputation being connected with a person such as this guy.

Smoog, you don't have to go through a poster's contributions one by one deleting them as you go along when you have administration rights to a board such as this. It can be done with but two or three clicks (user name → delete all posts → confirm).

I am surprised to see terms such as 'pervert' and 'scumbag' used above by otherwise sensible posters. How can someone be a scumbag pervert sex offender if they have no prior record and in this case have not even had a trial? Now, it would seem that the evidence against this one Christopher Paul Neil is overwhelming but even so ....

It is kind of sad that he'll be branded a pervert/sex offender for the rest of his life even if he didn't commit the crimes. I see where you're coming from. Some woman could just point her finger at me and say "he raped me" and I'd be stigmatized for life. My "friend" here in Korea sued a guy for "date rape" which may have occurred after she willingly entered a hotel room with him (when she told me that she's not sure if he really raped her or not) and got 5,000,000 won for it, so now he has to drop out of college -- and she's not even actually certain if he raped her or not. Fascinating. So yeah, I guess we should lay off someone until they're been legally convicted of being a sex offender -- if anyone disagrees, just remember -- all someone needs to do is point a finger at you and your life as you know it is over.

Yeah, anything to do with "sex" and you are finished, in any field (well, maybe not if you are Bill Clinton). Ronald Biggs was basically deified for robbing a million bucks. The guy who gets accused of touching a girl is finished for life.

One of the things I really liked about working with little kiddies in Taiwan was that I could give a kid a hug and not get called a pervert. In Australia I'd probably need a pre-nuptual agreement and be forced to wear boxing gloves just to ward off the lawsuits.

I agree that it is easy to be accused of some sort of sexual misconduct these days but if you post digitally altered pictures of yourself on the NET in situations where small children are being sexually abused then you deserve every label that people have used and more!

Has it been proven in a court of law that it is indeed him in these photographs then, Ann?

Whether he's found guilty or not, he will be treated as such for the rest of his life. So let's just hope he's actually guilty.

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=53684
is a thread on the Taiwan board that had a pretty good run (5 pp). The OP claimed to have been wrongly dismissed from his teaching job because he had "innocently" touched one of the students on the waist. The school held some sort of inquiry and evidently concluded there was more to it than that. But the OP went on and on and on about the injustice of it all, and how he was going to sue them, not to mention write a book and make a movie about how unfairly he'd been treated.

Eventually the thread got locked and I don't believe the OP has posted anything since.
Interesting reading...

Yes, but this case doesn't change the fact that there is a completely different attitude to working with small kids in TW, as well as legal implications. When I said "little kiddies" I meant kindergarten and pre-school.
