Really? I didn't think I was earning all that much--in fact I've paid as much as 28% tax... I don't begrudge it at all as I really appreciate the services, such as health care, that I'm getting...

Also, I didn't get any public services in Asia for that 7% I paid!

The tax threshold starts low, but everyone pays tax, even the unemployed and those on welfare - but then it rises...and rises.

If you've paid as much as 28%, it's clear someone appreciates you, and doesn't pay badly Smile

I was averaging 30-35 contact hours at the time, however... burned out a few years ago and am now only teaching about 25! Cool

Well, a 'normal' teacher averages about 25 pw wherever he/she is, unless slave labor or coercion is involved Very Happy

35 appears quite a lot - how did you do it?

I'm really not sure! Laughing I guess I was young and energetic, but it stopped in 2006 as I got really tired. Sometimes I still teach that much, but it is becoming more and more rare as I'm making an effort to be home before 5 o'clock nowadays...
