Word is that Shanghai is starting to strictly enforce its "no degree, no teaching job" policy, even to the extent of rescinding previously granted work permits for non degree holders. |

Since Shanghai is saturated with foreigners looking to teach in the city, I would say most schools can be picky and choose someone with a degree. Therefore most foreigners who are teaching would probably have a degree anyhow.
I thought Shanghai long ago implemented the no degree no visa rule. |

People have been finding work with less than a degree, or with a fake one. I've worked with some of these folk.
And yes, the market is saturated with those who want to work there, but not with those qualified to do so. |

I worked for a University in South Korea at one point and found out that I was one of the few that had applied with a real degree. Something like 80% didn't have the real thing. The University for once did its own checking.
Considering the pay level here I would say that even less then 80% applying would have the real thing and most places would be more interested in appearance than if you had a proper degree.
For all the fuss immigration make in Japan and South Korea the actual result is that your average con could get a job just as easily as those with the real thing. All immigration needs to do is contact student records at the university and check records against your passport but do they do this NO, NO, NO. All they in fact do is bring about a lot of cost and running about for those with a real degree, |
