I'm arriving in HK on the 7th of November and need to acquire a Chinese tourist-visa via express or fastest method possible. I will be staying in the Kowloon area -- specifically, Chungking Mansions No38 Nathan Road Tsim Sha Tsui.

Any suggestions? I'm staying at a Hostel so I'm not sure if I can organize the visa through the reception.

You can get it yourself at the China Resources building in Wan Chai. You pay more if you want it the next day. You can also do it through China Travel Service but it is more expensive than doing it yourself.
You can also get one at the border if you are travelling by KCR through Lo Wu.

Do you mean you're going to take one of those two jobs you've been offered (mentioned in your thread on the China Off-Topic board) on an L visa? You'd do well to read the numerous threads on the China Job-Related board on the trouble that could await you.

Of course it may be that the schools have promised to get you a proper (Z) visa once you get there. All well and good, but make sure they do it. And whatever you do, DON'T say you're going to China to teach when you apply for your L visa.

You don't have to state the full postal address when referring to Chungking Mansions! The building is notorious in HK.

Anyway, quite literally just across the road from 'the Mansions' you'll see CTS (China Travel Service). They can fix you up with a visa for China, and as someone above has mentioned this can be arranged on the same day (upon payment of a premium).

...although if you are going to work in a school in Jiangsu Province they can turn your tourist visa into the proper visa and documents.
