Oooh...

Sunday morning papers with all the store ads and coupons!
Using coupons to save $
Chick-fil-a
Good New Orleans food
Wine varieties from my local store
Having a dog with no problems from neighbors/landlords/etc
Old Navy (and other clothing stores that have great clearance racks)
My dad's amazing tortilla soup and huevos rancheros
My mom's amazing ability to buy any and everything on sale
Super cheap movies
Big back and front yards with lots of real grass I can walk barefoot in
Habanero peppers and Diet Caffiene free Coke (not together though)

***As for Mexican, I have two awesome places. Ok one is Mike's in Sagamihara (near Higashi-rinkan stn) 042-746-8584 ---awesome magaritas and huevos rancheros.

And Road and Sky Bar (actually Hawaiian-Mexican-Japanese fusion) near Kanazawa Bunko stn. 045-701-1639 The owner is an awesome surfer and staff is really funny and nice. It's a tiny tiny place though. But the chicken quesadillas are amazing and portions are massive.***

Most of the stuff I miss, I can find something near or similar or get my folks to mail over. I find that family and friends are on the top of the list, and most of them can't come over, which sux.

new orleans food...yum (the other day I was craving beignets...YUM!)...we found a mexican hole-in-the-wall resturant and I was super happy to see Jambalaya on their menu.... it was rice with little weanies cut up in it with a half cook egg on top...I laughed when I saw it. It was NOTHING like the real thing but good in its own way.
Nawlinsgurl, you should come to Ashikaga (after we get a bigger place) and we can try to turn Japanese ingredients to a good ol' cajun meal...do you think its possible?? hehe
I forgot about walking barefoot in the grass...I miss that to...BUT the weather is so hot in Louisiana that I spent most of my time this summer indoors...I wish we had the grass that is there in Japan...the weather here is awesome....sometimes it is perfect to walk barefoot in...

Sure I can come down there or you two can come down to Hayama. Whatever's best.
I did find a small restaurant in Tokyo with a New Orleans menu but haven't been able to contact them to see if they are actually still open. Maybe I will get a chance to just go down there and see what's up.

Where is Hayama?
Disney land has a Cajun restaurant but it is VERY expensive (like $25 a plate) so we didnt go...I told my dad the price and he said it is about that much in La for a Seafood Platter...maybe we should have gone there...

Nawlinsgurl, do you know that Cafe du Monde has branches in Japan? At least they were there when I left in 2004. In the Kanagawa area, I know of one in Honatsugi and one in Shinyurigaoka. I used to get beignets and coffee there about once a week.

I ate at a good Cajun restaurant in Machida. I don't remember the name or exactly where it is. Brooks might know.

I ate at Mike's, the Mexican place near Higashi-rinkan Station, and liked it.

the Cajun restaurant closed some time ago. It became a British style pub called Trafalgar, which I like.

Good cheese, especially when it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Better pizza.

Real sales (go to supermarkets here, and you see huge red sale signs on items, but it's the regular prices).

Cheaper gasoline.

That is crazy...I never really knew that that was a big international chain...but beignets arent so hard to make...so maybe it makes sense...

well Japanese like coffee so it is not surprising that it is in Japan.
I have bought cans of the coffee there.
Of course the one in New Orleans is better.

dunno, the cans that they sell are orange.
I haven't been in some time but they have some different kinds.

My wife wants to try Krispy Kreme but there are only two in Tokyo and the lines are long.
