Why are British folk leaving Santiago? I saw in a post this is happening.
I quite fancied Santiago as I like big dirty cities. Not if I can't get a work permit. Had enough illegalness in my life already!

If you are 30 or under, you can often get a 1 year working visa. Alas, I'm 31. Found out a bit too late. Check with the Chilean consulate in your country on the internet. They have recipricol agreements with several English-speaking countries.

Even if you can't get a 1-year holiday working visa, anyone can get a Visa Temporaria, which costs about $500 but pretty much allows you to work as a private contractor (or for someone else if you so desire) and you basically generate invoices through the Revenue dept.'s webpage.
