I might be goin to teach in Thailand, but the school has not mentioned anything about a medical or dental insurance plan. I'm wondering, is Thailand a place where you can get pretty cheap medical/dental care even if you don't have a plan? |

Absolutely. Medical and dental care can be superlative in Thailand, particularly in Bangkok. Prices are usually considerably cheaper than North America, Australia, and Western Europe. The country does a roaring trade in medical tourism, with patients coming from all over the world for treatment.
Bangkok abounds with international dental clinics, offering high-quality care at reasonable prices. Even dentists catering primarily to local people can be good (though their English skills may not be as proficient as places which have a large non-Thai clientle). This place gets consistently good reviews from expatriates, though I have never used them myself:

Outside Bangkok, your choices may be a little more limited and the standard of care may not be quite as good. Chiang Mai and some of the bigger cities should be OK, but most provincial Thais who can afford it, go to Bangkok for anything other than minor or routine medical matters. The best doctors and dentists want to be in Bangkok, because that is where the money is. |
