Wow, I lived in India for a year and never saw any of those things (except, of course the accent--but would an accent really keep you from going somewhere?).
I did see a LOT of filth, though. Terrible traffic. Plenty of stomach issues. Those are much more viable, everyday reasons for not teaching in India. |

| I just don't want to go there. It is not interesting to me in any way. You're welcome to teach there. I have known sane, rational people who want to teach there. However, it's just not what I'm interested in! |

| When I first came on this forum I was looking at Korea because I'd read where they pay the most money and I'm looking to pay off some debt and the prospect of being able to live in a new country rent free while paying off my debt seemed like a dream come true. The more I've read in the forum on Korea, the more it doesn't seem like that's the reality. I've applied with several recruiters and from what I gather recruiters are shady and I just don't feel comfortable taking a chance on something I don't feel 100% sure about. There are many places I'd love to go, Brazil, Europe, South America, but I just don't know where to start and what the realities of teaching overseas are. |

I'm quite sure you'd be taking a risk just about anywhere you went. Look at Nova in Japan, etc.
I've been in Korea for years, and 99% of the people get paid just fine. If you want to make it 99.9999999% chance, just go with any chain language institute. They have a reputation to uphold and have been around for a much longer time. This is almost always true, except Japan's Nova was an exception. But generally... |

Naturegirl, from your location, you are in Korea now?
I remember you wanted to give Asia a shot for awhile, but sounds like you'll be going back to Peru in February. Will it have been a full year in Asia? Or was it just a six month contract, etc.? |

Yep I'm in Korea. Was thinking about a year, but my husband got a job offer he couldn't refuse at the last minute, so they changed my contract to make it from Nov to Feb. I'll be back in Lima in March. |

Argentina and Mexico are both great in the Western hemisphere.
For Asia, I think Taiwan or Vietnam are the best. I have taught in all of them |
