I've been wading through the NET application process. I won't be able to furnish letters from my current and prior employers to support my length of employment. I don't want the current one to know that I'm looking (in Korea, the knives tend to come out when you give notice), and the latter is too disorganized and decentralized to answer e-mail, much less produce anything of value. As an alternative, I had thought about enclosing photocopies of my employment contracts. Does that seem like an acceptable alternative?

Thanks for the perspective...

I wouldn't worry unduly about such things. The EDB mainly want official service letters in order to set your pay step. When I applied I didn't hand in any letters from my school until after I was accepted.

note: They won't accept your employment contracts as proof of teaching service, so you will have to get offcial letters from your schools if you want to start anywhere but the bottom of the scale.

I totally agree with smoog.

I was in a similar situation when I applied and didn't include those letters from a couple of my previous employers. It wasn't a problem.

You WILL need to provide them eventually, but all that will happen is that you'll be sent an e-mail saying these documents are missing/please forward them sometime after you've passed the interview stage. So it's not something you need to worry about for quite a while yet.
