After 8 years it is enough, in February i will depart forever .
I would like to thank Dave for his extemely valuable website, a mine of information.
If only i had known about it from the beginning.
I leave with the knowledge that thanks to the educational system, ESL bods will always find work here.
Incompetence, corruption and the 60 years overdue system will see to that, privates will always fill our wallets
the political system will also prevent Chinese reaching teir potential, let us pray it will stay that way.
China being more powerful that the Western world......it does not bear thinking about.
The weekly executions of the corrupt will keep the population in the belief that something is done, but the system will not renew itself.
I will retire in peace in NZ, but there will be no work there, the current high dollar, the bad press about the freedoms of NZ, with which the Chinese cant cope , the legal prostitution and gambling(which do not exist here) all mean that only half of the usual chinese students come to Aotearoa in 2004
So toil on profitably in Zhong guo, my friends ,it will be worth it in the long run. |

Hello Peter,
Roger wrote a few good lines about you in another post. I have certainly learned a lot (& still am) from the regular posters on this site and try to pitch in, in an attempt to return the favour, so to speak.
I don't know you too well 'cos I'm fairly new in comparison. Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck and continued success in whatever you choose to do back in NZ. Not having to wake up and trudge to class is a great start!

Dear Peter,
eight years of trials and tribulations, and a lot of personal success (not many TEFLers out there know that you are one of the top RMB earners, and you deserve it!).
It is sad to see someone like you go. I have always enjoyed your posts, honestly, but in the last year or so, they have been far fewer, and not infrequently, were tinged with a hitherto unknown amount of sarcasm. I guess, we all can understand that someone like you should feel so inclined; Shenzhen is not the most hospitable place.
I wish you, your wife and your kids the best of the best in NZ. Enjoy your retirement - it's well-deserved.
And, don't forget us - drop in on Dave's, please, - there will be many missing you!
tot ziens, peter! |

Hi Peter,
For 3 years I have taken advantage of your sound advice and my income has grown from 2200 per month to an average of 14000 per month. You should be credited for always reminding us of our own value, and your writings here have helped many.
Now I hope that you enjoy some quiet time. I may well be joining you in that country in about 18 months.
