				| I will give up smoking. For about the tenth year on the trot. I'll probably last until about half past midnight. What about you? Any plans? | |

				| Learn enough Chinese to be able to talk to people. Travel, travel, travel.
Read the erudite tomes I have meant to read for the last year, but passed up for murders and travelogues.
 Have fun!

				| 1. Finish my portfolio on time and thus finish up the MA.
 2. Keep working on my pitiful Arabic.

 3. Begin re-learning French.

I'm fairly confident about keeping resolution number one (it's now or never for that degree) but I might fall down on the other two. Lucky for me, I've got friends to keep me on the straight and narrow with nagging/encouragement. But it's up to me to make the most of their help.

2003 was a bummer, so next year can only get better. For resolutions I plan to buy a daytimer and organize my days, continue MA research, do some extensive travel, and find a new teaching post later in the year.

Only kidding! It's good to live in the present. I might try that too, but it sounds so hard!

Even more flippantly, my resolution - I've just decided is to be more interesting. Like you said, Lynn, get a life outside of the internet. Wow, that is going to be hard! :O

				| 1. Oh, giving up smoking of course. But the start of a New Year is just so damn stressful, and when I'm stressed I really need a...
 2. Find the love of my life

 3. Think of inventive ways of covering up my approaching baldness (shave it all off? Wear a hat?)

 4. Read some books. I feel I'm getting dumber by the day

 5. Try and learn some Russian

				| I was going to use the quote button and point out some absurdities above but instead I'll resolve to ignore trolls on Dave's.
I also resolve not to be devoured by otters, knowingly have a sex-change operation, or eat stinky tofu. If it comes down to an inevitable choice between the three, however, you may refer to me as Ms. Steiner.

				| 1. Continue on with my MA.
 2. Go back to Japan, if I can swing a decent enough gig. Actually, the big resolution here is to find a community that I fit into better, but it's looking like that means Japan.

 3. Visit home for next Christmas, provided that I have time and finances left over after resolutions 1 and 2.
