Hey bud -
Your OP just disappeared. I got a notice to read your post in my email box that a new post was added and the window opened and told me that there was no such posting?
Thanks for letting me know about Vinnell and maybe in the spring I'll have an interview. see you soon!

actually, it's 4 days of leave if the person is a rehire but 6 days of leave if the person is a new hire.
And as for the old post, apparently, if you violate the rules you get deleted. They could have just deleted the offending post and not the whole thread but that's the way it goes. |

Not the word that I would use. Most of what Vinnell does they do with retired military so they are very good at recruiting them. English teacher recruitment, the other hand, they don't do so well. Doesn't make them a bad company they just need constant pushing in this regard. |

So get the cheapskates to pay the nominal fee to put an ad up here and the MODs will not be so quick to delete.
You could even write the silly ad for them!! It is really rather obnoxious of them to pass recruitment off to the teachers.

It seems that scot47 has the same problem this time as last time -- IF a teacher recruits another, he gets a few days off. Extra something for extra effort.
scot47 - don't they do this at your school? If not, why not? Maybe you have it so good that no teachers ever leave?
At the very least, the administration has a living reference standing in front of them recommending the new staff - I think it is better than some of the contrived 'reference' letters that I've seen cross my desk.
I do know that some American companies use alternative rewards for the employees that give an extra effort.
And VS you are very correct - they should advertise for teachers. However, they do have very good access to American military retirees and don't have to do much advertising for many, if not all, of their jobs. |

Yes, but how many ex-military sorts have TEFL qualifications? Some yes, but do they want to teach in Saudi? Vinelli has already said that they do poorly at finding teachers.
The problem with teachers being rewarded for recruiting is that one tends to not believe what they say about conditions.

I disagree VS, at least in this case, I at least have an incentive not to lie. If you come over here because of my recommendation and then find out I lied that will make for an unpleasant work/living environment between us and I am not interested in that. Whereas a recruiter will never see you again so he doesn't really care.
And as for passing the recruiting off to the teachers, I guess they do by default but it isn't like this is part of our job. I do it because I want to as it makes my life easier(as I explained in my deleted thread). |

But you could be teaching a double load and desperate to get some new teachers to get there to bail you out.

Lockheed had a similar deal. If someone was recruited as a result of a recommendation, the employee who made the recommendation got a cash bonus. I have never heard of any other outfit doing this.
The French Foreign Legion ? |

If you remember the Baghdad thread, I have the TEFL and military qualifications, besides I want to work there again. I am sure there are a few others like me with similar backgrounds.
And I hope for an interview in the spring, just so the OP, vinnelli, gets his 6 days off!

Vinnell has a new website. The address is www.vinnellarabia.net
This one actually has an address for Vinnell whereas the other one doesn't. This new website was done for free by an employee because the corporate side couldn't get its act together to do it themselves. |

I actually did think of you. Are you saying that you are not one of a kind.
But I was basing my comment on the fact that I can't recall meeting any ex-military sorts teaching EFL. Even the people that I knew that were teaching on various Middle East military contracts. There were lots of ex-peace corps types.
Perhaps they are all in Saudi.
