| I used to go to a Gold's Gym in Chiba and it cost me 10,000 Yen a month. That is about average for any commercial gym in Japan. I have seen some go up to about 25,000 a month. |

Tipness daytime only or evening only membership is around 7000 yen. 10000 is pretty standard for a month's full membership.
That kind of thing is expensive in Japan. A single drop-in dance or yoga lesson at a studio typically costs 3000 yen- more than twice what it costs in NZ. |

| Staying on the topic exercise, I usually play basketball or tennis. Are there any outdoor courts in Osaka? I remember I biked around for hours trying to find a basketball court, but low-and-behold! Nothing. I saw a few tennis courts, though. Maybe there are public indoor courts? |

Don't know about hoop in Osaka. Tokyo yes.
For tennis go to your city hall sports desk and ask to book a court. You have to register. That or join a club if you have the coin. Could be quite pricey, same as indoors.
Enjoy,
