IP addresses are virtually irrelevant anyway, proxy or not, as most of these scammers are operating out of internet bars and cafes. Good luck with trying to get the authorities in ANY country to take action, even if you believe you have correctly identified the IP address - and even if you have been foolish enough to send them money. Quite a lot of information regarding the 'modalities' of these scam artists (and interesting ideas for extracting some kind of retribution) can be found here:

And I forgot to mention that this 'IRS' notice was sent to my Russian email address! I've lived in Russia since 2003, go figure!

Anybody remember the famous fake Nigerian school that set up a whole fake website with photos of the principal and staff and all?
What they often do is target job sites for developing countries such as Sri Lanka, India or the Philippines. |
