I'm confused, I didn't provide a definition of bragging nor did I even mention the word.

Again, I didn't mention anything about someone's job or how much free-time they have.

I just commented that someone said 11 weeks a few post back.

Of course, the "holiday" part of a holiday is a celebration of an event or day - not the opportunity to miss a productive work day in the work year. So, Christmas off to celebrate the birth of some "person," and you get to do it - which is the real purpose of the event - not to take a day off from your work season and drink, etc.

thats a very narrow definition of a holiday though. holidays are also meant for rest and relaxation. in some countries (mine included) there are public holidays that celebrate no special occasion, they exist merely to give people a long weekend at some point in the year when there is no "real" holiday.

Public holidays that do not celebrate any special event is a vacation.

Holiday
Vacation
Weekend
Time off

These are different things, of course. Christmas, technically celebrates a specific event.

hehe at my first school, a mill, i found out they started observing new years day after they planed an important event on the first new years day they had been open and their foreign teachers all overslept, showed up late and hung-over after having been phoned by the boss. it caused such a mess that they realised the benefit of canceling classes on that day. Very Happy
