As MO39 implies, giving good advice is the responsible thing to do on a forum like this where newcomers rely heavily upon it. There is absolutely no reason to be "sneaky" or "cheeky" when entering Mexico, so I don't get it, Greg. Entering on a tourist card is the norm....followed by looking for work and getting legal later when you actually have a job. Asking for the maximum allowable days at the airport makes sense because it means no trips to the Immigration office before it's necessary.
Maybe this has changed now, but as far as I know, when you get an extended time on your tourist card, Immigration sends you off to the bank to pay the fee, followed by your return trip to their office with proof it's paid. They also may ask for proof that you can support yourself for the extra time requested in Mexico, and this alone could open an unnecessary can of worms. This whole escapade can take the better part of a day. Don't forget to add on bus fares or taxi fares and, of course, time spent in line-ups. To me, that's a hassle. |

Samantha-
The title of this post is 'SHOULD WE BE SNEAKY'
This is why I have made this comment. No other reason.
I just want to keep the discussion 'on thread'
Maybe you get it now! |

I (and several others) got it all along, Greg, which is why the question was answered the way it was by us. |
