Hello,

I am planning to teach in Shanghai starting in the summer or fall of 2008. I have a couple of questions:

1. What is a livable salary in Shanghai? I do not go clothes shopping very often, so that will not be a regular expense. However, I do enjoy going out to bars with friends or going to fairly nice restaurants every once in a while. I do not plan on seeking out Western food restaurants and hope to stick to local cuisine, as I hear it is cheaper. What difference in salary should I seek, depending on provided housing? (i.e., 5000 rmb with housing v. 9000 rmb w/o housing?)

2. Any companies or schools to steer clear of at all costs?

3. In terms of a time frame, when should I be applying for jobs starting in fall or summer of 2008? I have heard the whole process takes about 3 months.
