this post needs greater detail for the uniniatated -
the al shaya school group consists of english school for girls, oxford academy and international academy and a bunch of arabic school like al jameel

back in the day, remember i have been in kuwait continuosly for 15 years, english school for girls and international academy which was known by al taheer school (i think) recruited abroad and esg was run pretty tightly.
over the years, pay has not risen substantially or at all. the ministry of education has tried to get all schools externally 'certified' and part of this involves having policies and procedures in place from everything from play ground rules on hand and a set pay scale instead of everyone negitating for themself. 'certification' has not meant much for al shaya schools. another factor leading to a decrease in overall quality is hhhhhmmmm 'kuwaitization' . al shaya schools have a layer of kuwaiti administration , friends of the al shay a family who were once worker bees - not even teachers in governmental schools - who have final admin authority for a lot, so you guessed it, nothing gets done quickly and westerns get frustrated......

abdul rahman al shaya's greed overshadows even the true miserly attitude of his brothers who brought starbucks, debenhams, mothercare, river clothes, etc to kuwait - no teacher should even consider appealing to his heart because there is none

and, yes, back in the day, i worked for al shaya - it was my lowest salary as a teacher in kuwait and, as a parent of a student under him, i privately confronted him, then filed a case in the ministry eventually getting the change i wanted.....
