Once I get hired by a language school, will they do the paper work for me for the FM3 and I just pay them for it or do I have to pay and do it myself? My understanding is the place that hires you sometimes will do the paper work and everything else for you.

What say you?

Low end language schools likely won't cover the cost for you. Other schools will. Some schools will split the cost with you, but be careful of this as some have high-priced lawyers to handle the paperwork, so even if you pay half, it can end up being in the 1000s of pesos.

Get a translation of your teaching cert/main qualification an apostile on your degree.

As Guy says it's difficult to get it paid for though some schools will reimburse you the cost if you stay the year ($1660 pesos). The paperwork actually isn't that complicated. If the school charges to have it done, do it yourself. Migracion provide you with everything. It may need to typewritten though.

The first FM3 I had, the paperwork was done for me. They even took it all to Migracion. I just had to pay and pick it up. I stayed the year and the school reimbursed the cost.

A translation of my teaching certificate? That may be expensive here in the States. I know Berlitz would charge me an arm and a leg. I'm getting my degree apostilled and my certificate will be notarized from the school.

Does the certificate need to be apostilled as well??

Likely not, but it does depend on the particular migra office you visit. The degree is usually enough, but best check with them.

Oh...you'll do this in DF, correct? In that case, the you'll be fine with just the degree apostilled.

I just finished an online certificate which will be notorized. Since I'm going to Austin to get my degree apostilled I may go ahead and do the same with my certificate.
I also have a certificate from Mexico City but that was 1997. I figure it won't matter too much that one certificate is ten years old and the other one in an online certificate since I have three years experience teaching adults at the college here in Texas.
