Actually 2 years of experience, counting volunteer work done back home (the US). Is this sufficient to get a modest EFL job in Indonesia?
I've spent the last year in Korea, and I know it's far easier to make more/save money in Korea, but I'd like to come to Indonesia for the culture and the experience. Grittiness doesn't bother me.
I know, stupid newbie question. But what say you, anyone there already?
Thanks |

It will indeed get you a modest job, and a very modest salary. You should expect to share a modest house which will be furnished, er, modestly.
Seriously, though, if you worked somewhere groovy for your year such as a full-time job at a Korean K-12 school you might try applying to a few national plus schools. If your year was hagwan then you are probably looking at the likes of EF.
Indo is a g-o-o-d place to find a job if you aren't very particular, because there are some staggeringly crap jobs on offer that you could literally walk into off the street today. A nice, well paid and interesting job with a friendly boss and good working environment is the holy grail that many seek but few find. |
