Imagine this scenario if you will: A "school" turns away students because they are unable to find "teachers" that they feel are sufficiently qualified to do the job............ I'm imagining..................I'm imagining.................aaaaaaargh, I think I've had a seizure. |
Did it yesterday. Done it today. Probably do it tomorrow...
Another question of interest on this thread:
I don't mean to question anyone's integrity- but didn't someone on this thread start another thread intended to advertise said "serioustefl" course? Which, as far as i can see, has disappeared. Isn't that the same person who was on another thread, hysterically defending "seriousteachers.com?"
It makes me wonder...
Best,
Justin |

I don't know... but the statement 'the best hands-down' would definitely require some supporting detail, in my mind - compared to what, and by whom?
Anyway, I and others have tried to counter this unsubstantiated enthusiasm, because it's entirely possible for newbies to be steered into something that may or may not really work for them by such statements. |

Yes, I noticed that too. And people attack me for having an agenda--jeez I'm not anywhere near that bad. |

Justin, I don't doubt for a minute that you do. From previous posts you've made, it's clear that you try to act with an amount of integrity which is way above the norm for EFL. Thank God for the handful of people like you. If only the majority of "schools" could rise above the mire.
As for the strange similarity of posting, I noticed that too. Brings a new meaning to "word of mouth" doesn't it? |

Thanks for the nice works, dodger. It's not integrity- I'm just completely "gilipollas." (Spanish word with no near English equivalent that I can think of...means you gotta be crazy- but not exactly in a good way...)
Da thing is, I really DO have an agenda. Has to do with raising standards of professionalism in teaching while having a positive effect on the level of langauge education here in Ecuador.
Other people are here (in the field) to earn a lot of money. Or to influence the next generation. Or to feed their own egos by being the center of attention. Or, probably, to get away from their problems back home, or to meet sexy exotic foreigners, or to get drunk, or do drugs...the list could go on and on.
Nothin wrong with an agenda.
When it seemed appropriate and useful to other posters, I have certainly promoted the TESOL course I'm involved with on this site. But there's nothing "out of focus" as to my relationship with that course.
But let's keep them out there on the table.
Sorry for the threadjacking- TESOL training ROCKS- so get the best you can.
Best,
justin |
