Nobody cares. This is not a testing center. Some people have computers that may auto-correct incorrectly. Mostly, people type quickly and don't give a damn what grammar comes out.

Please give it a rest and stop moaning about grammar or spelling. No doubt you make mistakes.

Is your ego so lacking that you must find a way to kick sand to raise your self-righteousness?

Move on to actual matters.

For example, I'm willing to guess that you use a hyphen in entirely the wrong manner in nearly all your posts - the majority of your sentences contain at least one hyphen - it seems you like it - but of course you have no clue how to use it correctly. Maybe you should open a book - which will allow you gander at proper usage - because, we all know - well most of us - that hyphening is rarely used in place of proper punctuation - then again, you can do whatever you like - right?

Keep it up grammar punctuations hounds, its the one thing I like about this place. I tell my students that a good friend tells you your writing is garbage.
Now you think I am a piece of cake as a teacher. Well according to my evaluations I am regarded as being too strict. I do things like pull exams when I see them cheating. I don't fail them , just give them one mark lower than the lowest. I don't want to waste my time marking it,that's all. I also don't let them go home if they have wasted my time. They go home after they have done something , some small thing that has the smallest bit of merit. With really low level students this could mean asking me a question before they go out the door. I have had students in tears because they couldn't come up with something.
Actually by passing someone with 60% is like 50% in the west. Nothing you would be proud of. I just don't like having people in my class who don't want to be there.

Wonderful post trekidation - but remember I'm not teaching PhD students - in fact I teach kindy kids Laughing

By the way there's a huge difference between typos/simplified punctuation - and the total misuse of English grammar (from someone who claims to be teaching PhD students).
Please feel free to edit all my posts- at least in that way I'll know what I'm writing is sinking in (duhhhhhhhhh he wrote azz) Wink

if the red party members can agree on their fancily modernized traditional education system with some fine facilities and "beautiful" teachers, why can't we agree on forums and on our strictness that creates problems in our classrooms Confused

the heading of this thread is really something to discuss...my students tell me that the difference in between a foreign teacher and a chinese teacher is that a foreign teacher is more openminded than the chinese one...how come we end up being strict? well, we demand their attention, efficiency and improvement...that's my answer to the reasons i am strict in my classrooms

As my students and chinese colleagues have told me over the years, when they say strict, it's a compliment, that you actually care about the teaching. Too strict means that, too strict. But I would say strict has a definite positive connotation, not negative
