				| My experience in Taichung city was a really positive one. Part of what made it a positive experience was working at JacksonFive English School for two years. The school is owned by a Christian couple who are very supportive of their staff. There is a family-like atmosphere there where if someone needs help with something, the other people are always willing to help. There is a curriculum to follow when teaching the students but within that curriculum, the teachers have the freedom to be creative. I learned a lot while working at JacksonFive and through my experience there decided that I would like to become a teacher back home in Canada. |

This seems a bit like an advertisement to me. But I'll bite....I have some questions.

If this was only part of it, then why not go on to talk about the other things too, rather than continue to praise this school?

Is religion an important factor when selecting possible employers? Is there really a lot of people who are looking for jobs over seas and saying, "man, I want to teach English, but no way I'm doing it if the boss ain't Christian"??

Also, can you give examples of this supportive nature that is above and beyond what you'd find at an ordinary bushiban?

"...if someone needs help with something..." What exactly are you referring to here? Do you mean work related help? Help carrying the groceries?

Again, can you give more concrete examples rather than a vague, general statement?

Meaning what exactly? You're given the books to teach and you can teach them the way you want? Do you have a co-teacher? How many students do you have in your classes? What kinds of creative things have you done in your classroom?

This sounds so much like a testimonial on one of those infomercials its painful. Anyways, so what exactly was it that you learned at this school that made you choose a particular career path?

Furthermore, other than the fact that your school was located in Taichung, your title was very misleading. You didn't once talk about anything in Taichung, nor did you really talk about your experience there. All you did was go on about how great your school was in very general terms?

What didn't you like about Taichung? What didn't you like about your school? What didn't you like about anything?

Looking forward to your second post. Welcome to the board. |

Yeah, to me, the name alone would be enough to stop me from working there... You all know about the familial history of the Jackson family behind the Jackson five band, right? |
