Fujairah hikes govt salaries by whopping 70 pc
By Salah Al Daberky (Staff Reporter)

23 January 2008

FUJAIRAH - His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, has issued a decree increasing the basic salaries of the government employees in the emirate by 70 per cent with effect from January 1.

Shaikh Hamad recently instructed the government departments of Fujairah to implement the decision.

The decision was the result of Shaikh Hamads keenness to raise the standard of living of the government employees, both national and expatriate staff, and was in line with a similar decision of the Federal Government.
Mohammed Saeed Al Zaioudi, Director of the Human Resources Department of Fujairah, said about 12,000 employees would benefit from the increase.

It is the same 70% as the rest of the Emirates... the same one that doesn't include teachers.

Actually I think the situation is that the general 70% was for federal employees, eg customs officers etc - only those who work for the UAE federal govt. Whereas this is specifically for Fujairah emirate govt employees.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I think Sharjah government employees are getting this as well. At University of Sharjah we seem to be considered to be government employees until it comes to rises! So yes, it's the same 70% as the rest of the teachers! Rolling Eyes
