I'm a Canadian/British citizen currently teaching at a good British university. My qualifications are:
BA (3-year Canadian degree--NOT equivalent to 4 years/honours--good university, decent grades)
CELTA [=TEFL cert] (pass A)
DELTA [=post-graduate TEFL diploma] (pass)
MA Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching (good university--excellent grades/top of my class)
10 years' ESL experience, four of those at tertiary level
Technically speaking, I'm allowed to work in the US under a TN-S visa, which can be obtained with only a job offer (the employing institution doesn't need to sponsor you); nonetheless, I'm a forgeigner and thanks to my 3-year BA (if only I hadn't been so lazy as a kid...), I don't technically meet the min qualifications for the California state CC system.
Would I be wasting my time making applications to California Community Colleges?
Thanks,
Chris |
